The mayor of Cagliari, Paolo Truzzu, is betting on the government to obtain the necessary funds for the construction of the "trench" (vulgarly, the tunnel) in via Roma and for the construction of the new stadium.

The dossier with the works for the city, which is to become one of the "capitals of the Mediterranean", was delivered to the Minister for European Affairs, Cohesion Policies and Pnrr, Raffaele Fitto, during a meeting that took place this morning in Cagliari.

The reference to the redevelopment of Sant'Elia and to the stadium is between the lines of a note from the mayor. On the subject, there is a knot to untie, which is worth 50 million. It is the money that the Region should put into running to make the construction of the plant sustainable, according to the new economic and financial plan presented by Cagliari football, of 157.4 million (plus VAT). Problem: the program agreement that should carry all that money in its belly, envisaged by the latest regional budget, hasn't even begun to discuss. In short: there is still no certainty that Villa Devoto will open the purse strings.

So Truzzu - who with the Municipality is ready to make 10 million available - is looking for alternative ways. And he opened negotiations with the government (friend) of Giorgia Meloni.

With Fitto this morning we talked about «projects for Cagliari, relationship with the sea, use of Pnrr funds, ideas for the future, energy and environmental issues, our green and non-ideological vision», explains the mayor, who adds: « I gave Raffaele a dossier with the main actions in the field, from the redevelopment of the seafront (from Giorgino to Calamosca, with a particular focus on the Boeri promenade) up to the regeneration of Sant'Elia which will also see the birth of the new stadium "Gigi Riva ”. We are talking about investments for 300 million. We will initiate the first contacts with the ministry to build the Trench in via Roma. We must be ambitious and courageous, knowing today that we have to make sacrifices».
