"This is a huge quantity of small-sized mussels from the nursery ," explained the ASL veterinarian Peppe Sedda, director of the Hygiene, Livestock Farming and Livestock Production Service. " During the trip, the refrigerators went to pieces, which is why the material ended up like this, it must be disposed of immediately ."

The vehicle reached the area at the invitation of the Laconi traffic police, after being stopped on the 131 for a check on October 13. In that case too, the ASL had been alerted. However, the Animal Origin Food Hygiene Service had intervened. The veterinarians had already indicated that the material should be destroyed.
