The judge of the Oristano Review Court, Serena Corrias, reserved the right to decide on the request for release from seizure of the assets of Graziano Mesina, the 79-year-old fugitive arrested on 18 December 2021 in a house in Desulo (Nuoro).
At the time of Grazianeddu's capture, his personal effects and 6 thousand euros in his wallet had been seized. Mesina, detained in the Badu e 'Carros prison, was not present in the courtroom this morning, where his lawyers Beatrice Goddi and Maria Luisa Vernier were, who fought to obtain the restitution of the assets.
Prosecutor Armando Mamone, on the other hand, considers the kidnapping valid and justified because, as he reiterated today during the hearing, the money is not from Mesina's pension but comes from his illicit activities.
The proceeding is linked to the arrest for aiding and abetting of the couple who had hosted the former fugitive in the house in Desulo. We are talking about the breeder Antioco Gioi, 56, and his wife Basilia Puddu, 46: in the direct trial they negotiated respectively 3 years of imprisonment and one year and 8 months with suspended sentence.
