Seized by the Guardia di Finanza in Sardinia over 270 tons of pecorino cheese "Fiore sardo" , for a value of 1.6 million euros.
Seven producers are investigated for "counterfeiting of geographical indications or denominations of origin of agri-food products".
The Central Inspectorate of Quality Protection and Fraud Repression of agri-food products of the Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies collaborated in the investigations by the Fiamme Gialle .
Cheese made in violation of the rules of the production disciplinary has been put on sale on the island.
The analyzes revealed the use of technically treated milk by some producers . Therefore not raw milk, produced and processed in Sardinia, a necessary condition to obtain the denomination "Fiore sardo". A maxi kidnapping had already been carried out in April for the same reason.
