Massimo Cocco died at the age of 19 on a 195: he went to Pula to work
The young man from Quartucciu ended up in the sea with his car: he had to carry out maintenance while waiting to take service in a hotel on the coastMassimo Cocco, the nineteen-year-old from Quartucciu who lost his life this morning in a tragic accident on Highway 195, worked until the end of the season in a hotel in Nora owned by the Cacciuto family. And today too he was on his way to Pula, to lend a hand to his father-in-law with some odd jobs, which he did while waiting to start contributing to Nora's hotel.
But his young life was interrupted between the Rumianca pier and the Maddalena Spiaggia roundabout : Cocco was on board his Clio when he collided with a Fiat Marea, on board which was a family (father, mother and two children), to conclude his journey at sea. The vehicle overturned and for Cocco, when the rescuers arrived, there was nothing that could be done.
It is not clear whether it was a head-on collision, as initially emerged, or whether the two cars were traveling in the same direction: Cocco may have hit the other vehicle while attempting to return to the lane following a failed overtaking. But to reconstruct the dynamics it is necessary to wait for the traffic police reports: the officers worked with the local police of Capoterra, while the firefighters recovered the vehicle from the water.
