The decision of the Sassari Assize Court of Appeal against Jalal Hassissou and Soufyane El Khedar, the two Moroccans accused of killing Zeneb Badir , the 34-year-old compatriot who died on 23 July 2018 after having been beaten to death in a sheepfold between Arzachena and Baja Sardinia. In the first instance they were sentenced to 21 years in prison.

This morning Damaso Ragnedda, a lawyer representing the woman's three minor daughters, shared the request for confirmation of the sentences expressed two weeks ago by the Attorney General Maria Gabriella Pintus.

On the defense front, the lawyer Agostinangelo Marras asked for absolution for his client, Soufyane El Khedar, arguing that he did not participate in the beating and instead tried to stop his compatriot. Cristina Cherchi, who protects the second accused, asked for the acquittal from the accusation of voluntary murder, a crime to be classified, according to her, in manslaughter. Hassissou released spontaneous statements explaining that he had never met or seen in prison Zouhair Korachi , the witness who, with his videoconference deposition, told the Court that he had collected the confidences of Hassissou himself while both were detained in Bancali. Confidences with which the accused would have assumed all the responsibilities of the murder, exonerating Soufyane El Khedar.
