The news had been long-awaited, but now it's official. "Su Marrulleri", one of the most important events of the Sardinian carnival, has obtained, for the first time, the prestigious recognition of Historical Carnival by the Ministry of Culture.

"This result - comments the mayor Luca Corrias with satisfaction - represents an important moment of celebration for all those who, for almost 45 years, have contributed with passion, dedication and creativity to the realization of this event, which has become a symbol of tradition and cultural identity".

The recognition of Historical Carnival - he adds - " is not just a formal title or an economic value, but represents a tribute to the history, roots and soul of our Carnival. This title consecrates "Su Marrulleri" as a cultural event of national importance, placing it under the spotlight of an increasingly wider audience and recognizing its historical and artistic value".

Again: «A result that would not have been possible without the constant commitment of the Municipal Administration, which firmly believed in this project, working with determination for the candidacy of “Su Marrulleri” at the Ministry of Culture. The commitment made to achieve this goal has been constant and determined, starting from the publication of the Ministry's notice last October, aimed at enhancing the historical Italian carnivals».

This recognition further strengthens the position of “Su Marrulleri” among the leading events of the Sardinia Region, giving it a dimension and prestige that go beyond regional borders. For Marrubiu, this certificate represents an incentive to continue with greater determination in the preparation of future editions. The art of papier-mâché, costumes, parades and traditional masks, symbols of an invaluable heritage, will continue to be at the center of the scene, with the aim of exciting and involving an ever-wider audience.

Mattia Tuveri, delegate for major events, states that this milestone is " a dream come true, the event is growing thanks to the involvement of the Region and the Ministry, over 25,000 attendees expected with a call from all over the island".

The councilor for entertainment Matteo Ciccu is also proud : «An exceptional result - he says - which rewards the work done by this administration, a big thank you to those who collaborated to achieve this important result».
