Another tragedy at work in Sardinia: a 42-year-old worker resident in Iglesias, Simone Furia Calledda, died this morning in a waste treatment company in the industrial area of Macchiareddu, municipality of Uta.

From what we understand, he was hit by a mechanical shovel.

The alarm was raised immediately with the intervention of Uta's India 19 ambulance and 118 personnel. The air ambulance also arrived but there was nothing that could be done for the 42-year-old.
The police were also on site to investigate yet another death at work.

«According to initial reconstructions - the police explain - the accident occurred while a work vehicle was maneuvering to move waste. For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle hit the man who was on foot in the maneuvering area. As soon as he noticed the accident, the operator of the vehicle alerted the emergency services, but unfortunately there was nothing that could be done for the 42-year-old."

The military intervened promptly at the scene of the accident to start investigations and collect useful testimonies to clarify the dynamics of the events. «In the continuation of the activities – adds a note from the Carabinieri – all the investigations that the prosecutor deems useful will be carried out not only to determine responsibilities but also to verify compliance with workplace safety regulations within the company».
