Antonello Piras, a 21-year-old from Lula who confessed to the murder of his uncle Nico , killed on the night between Sunday 1st and Monday 2nd October last year when the celebrations for the Cortes Apertas were coming to an end in the town, will be judged in an abbreviated trial in July.

Piras, defended by Francesco Mossa and Giovanni Angelo Colli, appeared in the courtroom this morning before the preliminary hearing judge Mauro Pusceddu. The victim's family members filed a civil action with the lawyers Francesco Lai and Chiara Madia. In a brief, Madia asked to modify the charge to contest the aggravating circumstance of premeditation .

Antonello had confessed to the crime, saying that he had been threatened by the victim Nico Piras, who in turn was accused of the murder of his brother Angelo Maria Piras, Antonello's father . The man was shot dead in 2015, a crime according to investigators due to inheritance issues.
