Its final flight ends on the tarmac: a pink flamingo found dead in Pirri.
Passersby and residents in Via delle Coccinelle are in disbelief: the cause of death is unknown. Her pink wings rested on the concrete sidewalk , her beak closed and her long legs outstretched, almost in a final attempt to get up. But her last flight ended there, in Pirri , on Via delle Coccinelle, not far from the Molentargius Regional Natural Park, where thousands of flamingos are experiencing the most delicate and fascinating time of the year: raising their chicks in the heart of Bellarosa Maggiore .
The specimen was found lifeless by passersby , incredulous and dismayed at finding themselves so close to one of the lagoon's most elegant and shy animals, which has now become a symbol of Cagliari. The cause of death remains unknown.
The Forestry Corps has been alerted to the death, while the local police will handle the recovery of the carcass.
