The funeral of the historic municipal secretary Giuseppe Pucci , who died yesterday on the threshold of his 104th birthday, is scheduled for today at 5 pm in the parish church of Mandas .

The municipal administration will officially participate in the mourning with the presence of the municipal Gonfalone in the church.

«It will be a fitting and proper tribute to one of the most important and historic officials that Mandas has ever had », says Mayor Umberto Oppus.

Born in Isili on November 22, 1920, the eighth of ten children born to Luigia Melis, originally from Gergei, and Enrico, a cobbler from Buggerru. After high school, in 1948 he began his career as a municipal secretary.

He served in several municipalities: Austis, Sadali, Osini, Neoneli, Ardauli, Gesico, Siurgus Donigala, Sardara and finally Mandas from 1966 until 1982, the year in which he retired.

«He was secretary in our Municipality during the period in which the foundations for urban growth and economic development were laid in Mandas, which continued in the following years up to the present day - recalls the mayor -, on behalf of the Executive and the Municipal Council, of the employees and of the entire community, I express my condolences to the family».

In 1949 Giuseppe Pucci married, after a brief engagement, Ines Piras, originally from Osini. From the union three children were born: Carlo, Giampiero and Sergio. He has always been a great lover of classical music and astronomy.
