The man who allegedly intentionally set off a violent explosion inside his home on Via Boccaccio , in the Domus Beccias neighborhood of Terralba, has been arrested on charges of manslaughter on Sunday morning, May 17. Thirty-eight-year-old Aleandro Frau, who lived in the terraced house, is currently hospitalized in the burn unit of Sassari's civil hospital, where he was airlifted for serious burns. The explosion completely destroyed the man's apartment. The fence of a neighboring home was also damaged, while the violent blast hurled numerous debris into the street.

According to investigations by Carabinieri officers from the Terralba station and the Oristano company, Frau allegedly opened two gas cylinders in the home (but not connected to the domestic wiring) , saturating the rooms before triggering the explosion with a lighter. This act, according to investigators, endangered not only his life but also that of his neighbors.

Carabinieri, firefighters, and emergency medical services responded immediately to the scene. The building was declared uninhabitable due to severe structural damage. The cause of the incident remains unclear, and fortunately, no other people were injured .
