Filar-Optomaterials Srl, a Tortolì-based company specializing in laser crystals and optical components of the highest quality, has succeeded in introducing artificial intelligence into its production processes to improve their precision. A highly interesting development - achieved thanks to the SMART-Growth Project, funded by the I3 initiative of the European Union - which will be discussed during the workshop “Innovation in cohesion policy - The use of artificial intelligence in production processes”, organized by Sardegna Ricerche, scheduled for Tuesday, March 25 from 9:30 a.m. at the former Manifattura Tabacchi in Cagliari.
The meeting is designed to focus on the results of the initiative, but also to outline its future developments : the result obtained is already being studied to be applied in various sectors such as agri-food, renewable energy and even aerospace.
Filar is a Sardinian company leader in the production of critical components for deep tech applications with products ranging from neurosurgical applications to aerospace instrumentation. To ensure the extremely high precision required in these sectors, the Sardinian company, in partnership with companies and research organizations from other European regions, has managed to introduce artificial intelligence to manage the enormous amount of data needed to create its products.
An important innovation, obtained thanks to the resources made available by the cohesion policies of the European Union . During the workshop, the new opportunities of the Interregional Instrument for Investments in Innovation (I3) and the Regional Programme Sardinia 2021-2027 will be explored.
The main objective that Sardegna Ricerche intends to achieve with this initiative is to foster collaboration between the actors of the regional innovation ecosystem , stimulating technology transfer and co-design in strategic sectors, with particular attention to artificial intelligence applied to manufacturing production processes.
In the afternoon, upon reservation, it will be possible to request information on the SMART-Growth project and on the various funding opportunities from the experts of the EEN – Enterprise Europe Network, of which Sardegna Ricerche is the regional node, who will be available to anyone who wishes to delve deeper into the topics of the day .
