Locked in their homes , with water that—after a morning of heavy rain and unseasonable hailstorms—has reached their front doors, turning the street into a huge puddle. "A truly exasperating situation: we practically have a sewer system in our house . And this is even more serious considering that we've called for help several times and no one has arrived," a resident of Via Risorgimento, in Pirri , told Unionesarda.it.
Here, this morning, the situation quickly became unmanageable. "It rained all morning, and until 1 p.m., everything seemed calm." Then the unexpected happened: the water stopped flowing, the street changed shape, and in a short time, residents found themselves confined to their homes, with over 30 centimeters of water. Then, to add insult to injury: "Three manholes burst, the sewer ones. Extremely dangerous, because if someone goes through there, even on a scooter, the consequences are predictable and unpleasant," he continues.
The report also expressed discontent over the lack of help. "After contacting the local police, firefighters, and the municipality, two municipal patrols arrived around 3 p.m. and closed the road with barricades." Residents are concerned that as the water slowly begins to recede, the drains remain open. "We hope someone closes them. We can't do that, but we've made ourselves available to monitor the area and alert anyone passing by."
