He keeps two homemade explosive devices, known as “paper bombs”, in his home. A fifty-year-old from Dolianova was arrested this morning by the Carabinieri.
The police were alerted by reports from neighbors with whom the man often argued and by his constant threats to "blow everything up" , thus implying that he had access to explosives or dangerous materials.
Even without a formal complaint, the Carabinieri of Dolianova searched the fifty-year-old's house, where they found two homemade explosive devices.
The explosives, weighing 177.5 grams and 201 grams respectively, equipped with a pyrotechnic fuse, were found to be highly dangerous.
They were immediately secured by the bomb disposal unit of the operational department of the provincial Carabinieri command of Cagliari, which ascertained that the pyrotechnic powder contained, equal to 210 grams, had an explosive equivalence factor of approximately 140 grams of TNT. The devices were transferred to a suitable area and destroyed.
The fifty-year-old was placed under house arrest, pending the validation hearing. In the meantime, the military's investigations continue to clarify the origin and any intended use of the devices.
