Second important operation, in a few days, at Cagliari-Elmas airport by ADM officials. After the identification of clothing with counterfeit brands , this time, 20 bags containing unidentified vegetable seeds and 8 plant cuttings widespread in Asian territories ended up under seizure. The material was found in the luggage of two travelers coming, via Fiumicino, from Bangladesh, and was without the phytosanitary certificate issued by the competent authority of the country of origin.

Its danger, as it is potentially capable of spreading harmful organisms to plants, was ascertained by the Phytosanitary Service - Department of Agriculture and Agro-Pastoral Reform of the Sardinia Region, and its destruction by incineration was therefore ordered.

The seized seeds would have been able to produce about 20,000 Asian vegetable plants while from the cuttings, equipped with vital buds capable of germinating, about 25 new plants in an unidentifiable state could have been reproduced which, in the long term, could replace some types. of local vegetation thus causing serious damage to native Sardinian crops.
