The Minister of Culture, Gennaro Sangiuliano , signed five decrees regarding the “Major Cultural Heritage Projects” Strategic Plan. Among these interventions, one million euros was granted to the Municipality of Guamaggiore for the recovery and valorisation of the Barru nuraghe , a structure of extraordinary beauty in the heart of Trexenta, a few tens of kilometers from Cagliari. It is the only project financed for the benefit of the province of southern Sardinia.

The mayor Nello Cappai is satisfied: «We have long started a long process of valorisation of our territory for tourism purposes , the flagship of the offer to visitors will be represented by the Barru area, an authentic monument of the distant past which will certainly It tells our story."

«We want to enhance the site - added Mayor Cappai - to create culture, economy, work, for the benefit of everyone, young people in particular. Guamaggiore has its own archaeological and cultural heritage, also made up of traditions and agriculture which we must believe in to overcome today's difficulties."

The Nuraghe Barru, as scholars say, was built in various phases with blocks of calcareous marl. The excavations carried out so far have allowed the recovery of a central keep and two towers. A site of extraordinary interest and beauty: «With this new funding from the Ministry of Culture – explained Mayor Cappai – it will be possible to move forward with the valorization of the archaeological area, certainly among the most interesting in Sardinia».
