Cagliari arrives in the final for the European “ Green Capital ” award 2024 together with the Spanish city Valencia. The European Commission announced today.
The awards recognize the efforts of towns and villages to improve the environment and stimulate further ecological transformation activities.
The finalists for the title "Green Leaf", dedicated to smaller cities, are Elsinore (in Denmark), Velenje (Slovenia) and Bistrița (Romania).
The EU Commissioner for the Environment, Virginijus Sinkevicius, said: " Cities are at the center of our fight against climate, pollution and biodiversity crises , they show the way and lead efforts to bring about systemic and long-term change. deadline required by the European Green Deal ".
