A few hours after the resumption of workers' mobilization at the entrance of the Portovesme srl plant , the Cgil Sardegna officially requests a new intervention by the Minister of Enterprise and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso. "The silence of the Government on the future of Portovesme srl is unacceptable", the union's note signed by secretary Fausto Durante, who requests a meeting with the minister as a matter of urgency to clarify the prospects of Portovesme srl and the industrial area.
Last December 27, Minister Urso visited the Portovesme plants together with the Minister of Labor, Marina Calderone, and the President of the Sardinia Region Alessandra Todde. « Today we ask what happened to the commitments made in front of the gates of the plant now more than two months ago », continues Cgil Sardinia. «As well as the silence on the overall relaunch of the production of zinc, lead and aluminum, considered strategic by Minister Urso himself».
In early February, Minister Urso had also spoken of a buyer - an Italian group supported by a foreigner - interested in relaunching the Glencore factory. But, to date, there are no updates: " Two months is a long time but enough is enough, you cannot come to a territory that is suffering from an unprecedented crisis and make commitments that then do not materialize . Empty promises risk further fueling a climate of tension and concern", concludes Cgil Sardegna.
