A 57-year-old local man was arrested by the Carabinieri of Gonnosfanadiga during a patrol in the countryside carried out yesterday.

The man, unemployed and already known to the police, was stopped and found in possession of a 16-gauge double-barrelled shotgun that had not been registered and for which he did not have any authorization to carry or possess.

During the investigation, the officers also found a switchblade over 20 centimeters long. The subsequent house search also yielded nearly ninety hunting cartridges, both shot and buckshot.

Weapons and ammunition were seized and confiscated. Following the formal procedures, the 57-year-old was escorted to his home and placed under house arrest pending a summary hearing, scheduled for tomorrow morning.
