He was boarding the ferry from Santa Teresa Gallura to Bonifacio with a clandestine pistol and ammunition , but the State Police stopped and arrested him.

The man is a Corsican pensioner of about 70 years old . According to reports, the elderly man had come from Corsica specifically to illegally purchase the gun and bullets in a town in the province of Nuoro and was returning to his home town, near Ajaccio.

During checks at the embarkation point in the Gallura port, however, the officers decided to search him, finding the weapon and other material that the man—assisted by lawyers Pietro Orecchioni and Giuseppe Corda —had illegally procured. Both Italian and French authorities are now investigating the matter.
