"A detainee told me where Fabio Serventi's body had been placed. I immediately told the lawyer because it is right for parents to have a tomb to pray to and because it is also in my interest, since I have been in jail since two years for something I didn't do. "
The twist, which later turned out to be unfounded, arrived at the opening of the hearing, when before the Court of Assizes of Cagliari the accused Andrea Pinna, 35 years old from Perdaxius, revealed that he had received that confidence, in February, then reported by the lawyer who defends him, Teresa Camoglio, directly to the prosecutor Rossana Allieri.
According to that confidence, the body of Fabio Serventi , the 24-year-old who disappeared from Perdaxius on March 21, 2020 and for whom Pinna is on trial for voluntary murder and body concealment, would have been found in a dilapidated house in San Giovanni Suergiu, near of the cemetery.
The searches entrusted to the carabinieri gave negative results, but today - after hearing the revelation - the President of the Court, Giovanni Massidda, summoned the prisoner to the courtroom.
The young man told the judges today that he made it all up. Several times, during his examination, the accused reiterated that he was not the one to kill the fellow villager.
"It has nothing to do with it, I just found his scooter in the street and, after fixing it, I sold it," he said. In reality, to nail him there would be various interceptions where, to friends, he reveals that he killed him to pocket a drug debt that Serventi owed to a large dealer.
Millanterie or truth, the judges of the Assizes will have to establish it.
In the meantime, the Court has postponed the trial for the formal closure of the hearing until 11 May.
The parents of the missing young man, who have long been asking to be able to find their son's remains, are assisted by the lawyers of the civil party Patrizio Rovelli and Fabrizio Rubiu.
