The Municipality of Esterzili appeals to the civic sense of citizens to save water, in this moment of water emergency. He recommends that those who own private wells limit their use of water to avoid further worsening the availability of water resources for the community .

Furthermore, the mayor, Renato Melis, issued an ordinance (number 11 of 16 July), imposing severe restrictions on the use of water throughout the municipal territory . The ordinance goes into effect immediately and will remain in effect until the current water crisis ends.

According to what has been established, it is forbidden to draw water from designated points or from any other source not authorized by the Municipality for the following purposes: irrigation and watering of gardens and lawns, washing courtyards and yards, washing private vehicles, filling ornamental fountains, garden and private swimming pools, even if equipped with a water recirculation system . All uses other than those strictly for domestic food or to support pastoral farms.

The invitation is to rational and correct use of water , underlining the importance of the active collaboration of all citizens. The ordinance prescribes that the daily drawing of water be limited to a maximum of 800 liters for each pastoral farm , suggesting that the remaining part be integrated with private mains water or from sources not conveyed to the various designated deposits.

And again the mayor highlighted that the indiscriminate drawing has already led to the emptying of the municipal deposit, which will lead to the absence of water at the drawing points in the Taccu district for a few days. This situation could repeat itself in the event of further emptying of the warehouse.

Local authorities will monitor compliance with the provisions, with the aim of preventing non-compliant behaviour. Violators will be subject to an administrative fine of up to 400 euros.
