Masia, it is believed, did not die from an illness but the death was caused by a half operator . Subsequently, the body was hidden to be found a few hours later by some workers who had been alerted by the man's wife, worried about her husband's prolonged absence. So they went looking for him.

On August 6, after the agents of the Flying Squad had seized - as per decree - the cell phones of all the employees who until then had been at work, a fire broke out that destroyed the waste disposal facility .

The Public Prosecutor of Sassari has delegated the investigations to the Ecological Operational Unit of the Carabinieri of Sassari, since the two events could be somehow connected, for the probable interest of concealing any elements that could help the investigators to summarize the last hours of Masia's life .

From the reconstruction made by the intervening firefighters, the stake is clearly of arson .

Currently there is a suspect for manslaughter and corpse concealment, he is a colleague of the dead worker, and several kidnappings have been carried out and also images and videos have been acquired, of certain investigative significance.

Technical investigations are also prepared on the seized cell phones and on other objects as well as biological analyzes through the Scientific Police Service of Rome.
