Costa Venezia made a bet in Naples, but is returning to Cagliari . The Diadema, owned by the same company, has instead dominated the panorama of the Cagliari port for days: it is docked in the crane quay, deserted since the industrial port left the Mediterranean freight routes.

The former can carry 5100 passengers and over 4900 the latter. But in these weeks they are still. And they will remain so until April, when they will resume their travels. Meanwhile they spend the winter in Cagliari.

The decision on the block was announced in September. "Costa Cruises has decided to update the autumn-winter 2022/23 programs of two ships in its fleet," it was stated in a statement. Venice worked until December 1st. While "the 11-day cruises originally scheduled until mid-April 2023 have been cancelled, as the product is the ideal offer for some nationalities who cannot access them in the current scenario". It will leave again in April, in the American seas.

The Diadema cruises, on the other hand, scheduled until April 7, 2023 "have been cancelled". The ship "will return to offer cruises starting April 7, 2023, with itineraries of 14 days in the Canary Islands and, subsequently, 7 days in the western Mediterranean".

The stop could be good news for Cagliari. «Costa asked for the availability of docking», explains Raffaella Del Prete, general manager of Cagliari Cruise Port, «this means that all the services, from those on land to those of transport, create an important induced for the territory. This is low season for Mediterranean cruises. But the ships continue to give work».
