Hospitals under increasing pressure in Italy, where the percentage of seats occupied by Covid patients in medical departments rises to 30%.
On the other hand, the situation in the intensive care departments of Sardinia returns to ease, where the figure drops to 13% (-1%), but still remains three percentage points above the threshold level. Employment in the non-critical area departments of the island remained stable at 15%.
In the last few hours, the cry of alarm had come from the Sardinian hospitals for a situation that is still difficult to manage: because if it is true that the parameter of the medical area is not yet passing through the yellow zone, if the Covid intensive therapies are full everywhere, even saturated beyond the limit, the consequence is that a positive patient can risk his life just because there are no beds in intensive care.
Officially, the beds in the hospitals of the island are a total of 1,602 in the medical area and 204 in resuscitation, plus 16 that can be activated according to Agenas. The problem is that these are numbers on paper: without resuscitators and anesthetists, without nurses, a hospital bed offers no guarantee.
IN THE COUNTRY - According to the latest data, Italy could have yesterday reached the peak of infections of the new wave pushed by Omicron, with an average incidence value of about 2,200 cases per week per 100,000 inhabitants.
The percentage of places occupied by Covid patients in non-critical area wards in the last 24 hours grows in 8 regions: Calabria (43%), Friuli (34%), Lazio (29%), Marche (29%), PA Bolzano (20%), PA Trento (29%), Puglia (23%), Valle d'Aosta (with + 5% back to 57%). More than 30% are Calabria, Friuli, Liguria, Lombardy, Sicily, Valle d'Aosta, Umbria.
The percentage of intensive therapies occupied by Covid patients, on the other hand, remains stable at 18% in Italy and, in 24 hours, falls as well as in Sardinia in other 5 regions: Calabria (17%), Campania (12%), Marche (23%) , Tuscany (23%) and Umbria (13%).
