Alfredo Cospito must be "immediately transferred" . Following the worsening of the health conditions of the anarchist who went on hunger strike on 20 October last to protest against the 41bis regime to which he is subjected in the Sassari prison of Bancali, the national Guarantor of persons deprived of their liberty also breaks the silence .

Mauro Palma stresses that the Bancali structure is not suitable for taking care of him and that his transfer now "can no longer be postponed" . Above all in view of the very concrete possibility that the situation could worsen further, after the fall in which the anarchist - who has already lost 40 kilos in weight - suffered a broken nose and copious blood loss.

In the meantime, the Cassation has brought forward to next March 7 the discussion of the appeal against the 41bis, initially scheduled for April 20.

In recent months, the Guarantor has closely followed the story of Alfredo Cospito, including making two visits to the prison. «He did so continuously and constantly, avoiding however - underlines a note from the same office of the Guarantor - taking public positions, if not to inform about Cospito's health conditions and his own concerns for a progressively deteriorating situation. But now, the National Guarantor - continues the note - decides to break the silence to ask, this time publicly, that Alfredo Cospito be transferred urgently to a structure capable of guaranteeing immediate medical intervention in the event of acute situations, risk, however, high given the strong stress to which his body has been subjected for months ».

The prison of Sassari, in fact, notes the office of the Guarantor, " does not have an internal clinical center and in the neighboring area there are no health structures capable of ensuring any urgent interventions with due safety ".
