The religious holiday takes precedence over the civil one, also because it is closely linked to the calendar. And so to avoid the coincidence with the feast of the Turritani Martyrs , the Municipality of Sassari has decided to bring forward the Cavalcata Sarda 2024 : not the penultimate Sunday of May, the 19th, but the second Sunday, the 12th May . The decision was made in agreement with the municipal administration of Porto Torres, with a view to collaboration and a global and unitary vision of the entire territory.

Mayor Nanni Campus explains: «We thought it was the right choice to accommodate the economic activities that work especially during these occasions, such as the traditional stalls that liven up those days so much; but merchants, restaurateurs and other traders will certainly benefit from it too. Tour operators, as well as individual tourists and enthusiasts, will immediately be able to plan trips to attend both festivals . Folk groups will be able to participate in the various events, including those that take place on the days preceding and following the main festivals, without being forced to choose between the initiatives of Sassari and Porto Torres".

In the next few days, immediately after the transfer to the Council, the expression of interest addressed to groups and associations will be published on the Municipality's website.
