Exceptional discovery on Sunday in the dunes of Capo Comino beach: thanks to the report of a couple of tourists, Mauro and Ina, the Caretta caretta nest was discovered.
This was announced by the President of the Marine Protected Area “Tavolara – Punta Coda Cavallo” Rita Deretta. The discovery set in motion the regional network for the conservation of marine fauna. The discovery was confirmed by the intervention of Kira, a molecular dog specialized in detecting sea turtle nests and used for the first time by the Amp thanks to a project financed by the Sardinia Region, which precisely reported the presence of the eggs.
Although not part of the MPA, Capo Comino falls within the competence of the marine area within the regional network for the conservation of marine fauna , and the report allowed timely intervention to secure the area surrounding the nest and to ensure the protection of the eggs.
