At Ossigeno, in via Dante, the concession was for 16 square meters. 170 of them had been occupied. Not only that: according to the documents on which the municipal police worked, which carried out the seizure, a demolition order had been issued which dated back to 2002. Irregularities also at the Belvedere di Buoncammino: seals there too.

But this is only the beginning: «We will check all the so-called “cadozzoni” and kiosks in the city. If we detect any failure to comply with concessions, laws or regulations, we will not give anyone discounts». Words of the commander of the local police of Cagliari , Guido Calzia, who announces zero tolerance towards street vendors who work outside the rules, «and someone has done it for years. It's just that it's no longer allowed», is the announcement that comes from the top agents.

The week that has just passed has been a tense week: some representatives of the "caddazzoni" (common name that indicates the itinerant commercial activities with bar trucks) protested in the Municipality. They have seen themselves sanctioned and surrounded by seals because they are not up to date with the payment of taxes, or for not having complied with the concessions. As happened in the Cis parking lot, where in recent weeks the municipal police showed up in force and freed the entire area.

Some vendors felt betrayed. Because, they said and reiterated on several occasions, "someone" not better identified had provided reassurances on the continuation of their business, even if they were not in order.

But the Municipality has decided to adopt the hard line. Also because it is not in the mayor's, councilor's or council's power to change regulations issued on the basis of national regulations. The traders' representative has announced that it intends to file a proposal for a regulatory change. Which can hardly be accepted.

Meanwhile, tension is rising: it is not excluded that the numerous written insults against the councilor for Productive Activities, Alessandro Sorgia, which have appeared in various parts of the city in recent days, are linked to the ongoing dispute.

However, the line of the Municipality does not change: in the next few days the controls will be extended to all the "caddazzoni", also on the basis of reports that are flocking. The agents will show up throughout Cagliari, even at Poetto.
