Cagliari, the Tar says yes to the decree for the maxi deposit of LNG in Giorgino
The administrative judges of Lazio reject the appeal of restaurants and businesses in the area: "blessed" the regasification plant on the outskirts of the city

The LNG terminal in the port channel of Cagliari is "strategic", in terms of type of work and location. And "it's not dangerous". For this reason, the Lazio Regional Administrative Court has placed the seal of administrative correctness on the decree of the Ministry of Ecological Transition which has expressed an opinion of environmental compatibility on the maxi storage and regasification plant that Sardinia Lng Srl wants to build in Giorgino.
At the center of the disputes there were mainly two elements. The first: from the documents filed with the ministry , the alternative options to the plant, perhaps to be built in another area, would not have been sufficiently evaluated. And then: the planning papers would not have adequately taken into consideration the possible risks for public safety and "the repercussions in harmful terms on the private interests connected to the exercise of the economic activities already present in the port area".
The Regional Administrative Court noted that, in the light of the content of the deeds filed in court and of the documentary findings, "the elements deduced as a basis for the defects reported do not constitute macroscopic defects of the preliminary investigation or lack of suitable motivation, nor do they integrate hypotheses of manifest illogicality and incongruity".
More specifically, according to the judges, the environmental impact study prepared contains "the express indication of the alternatives examined, together with the relative analysis, including on the one hand the comparison of the advantages and disadvantages related to the hypothesis of non-realisation of the intervention, on the other hand, the critical issues associated with the different location of the plant (in the two alternative sites considered)".
The complaints of lack of preliminary investigation and illogicality of the motivation for the alleged omission of consideration of the negative effects of the work on the surrounding environment were also considered unfounded. "The elements put forward in support of these complaints" reads the sentence, "do not find any correspondence in the whole of the procedural documents".
