Cagliari, the mega-construction site on the water network is progressing: the first three lots in Villanova have been completed
The intervention is underway in the last stretch of via Einaudi, which will allow the definitive reopening of the road

The Abbanoa mega-construction site for the redevelopment of the water network in the Villanova neighborhood of Cagliari is proceeding quickly and without any hitches so far. A month after the start of the work, the company in charge of the intervention has reached the fourth of the eleven sub-zones defined with the Municipality: that of the stretch of via Einaudi between via Oristano and via Abba.
The first three lots have already been completed: the stretch of Via Einaudi between Via Alghero and Via Orlando, the entire Via Orlando (which will no longer be a construction site) and the stretch of Via Einaudi between Via Abba and Via Orlando . The new water mains have already been laid in these areas, which will solve the problem of water leaks in the neighborhood. The work currently underway in Via Einaudi is the last on the street : it will then be reopened to traffic permanently (it is closed from 8:30 to 17:00 on weekdays, with signs indicating the interruption , while parking spaces are cancelled for the duration of the work in the specific sub-zone).
The construction site proceeds step by step: the workers and heavy vehicles will not move to a new section until the previous one is completed, so as not to close the neighborhood for several months . Once Via Einaudi is completed, the next sub-zone will be Via Abba, then Via Oristano (first section between Via Eleonora d'Arborea and Via Einaudi, second between Via Einaudi and Via Iglesias), finally Via Iglesias itself (first section between Via Oristano and Vico San Lucifero, second between Vico San Lucifero and Via Eleonora d'Arborea, third between Via Eleonora d'Arborea and Via Garibaldi). In order not to interfere with traffic related to the presence of schools, work will begin in June on the streets of Via Ozieri, Via Macomer and Via Tempio during the summer break of the school year.
The new construction site involves the complete replacement of 1.2 kilometers of pipes, including conduits and connections, with new ones in spheroidal cast iron with a diameter of 150 millimeters. The investment is 1.3 million euros, Fsc funds. Abbanoa has identified the areas on the basis of an analysis of the most degraded sections: in Villanova, over the years, there had been significant water losses and inconveniences for users .
