Mice wandering around in the hallways, tiles coming off, few staff and few essential services. These are some of the reasons that pushed the students of the Giua technical institute to go on an indefinite strike. «We want to address the problems that affect our school. It is a crucial moment to guarantee our safety and our right to have an adequate school environment", we read in the note released by the institute representatives, "we all pay to have suitable and clean environments, but for some time now all this has been failing. It is not right that school, the place where we train and grow up, tramples on our rights."
Students shine a spotlight on the safety of the facility where they spend most of their time. "We have encountered serious safety problems, with accidents involving students due to some tiles falling." And then: "We enter school without the supervision of school staff in the event of a strike, without drinking water and without access to bathrooms." And they point the finger at rodent control: "Despite the reassurances, we have received contradictory information on its actual execution."
A protest which however, until concrete interventions arrive, does not seem willing to die down and the institute representatives ask for determination and unity from their comrades. «We ask all students to remain united and continue until our demands are met. We are aware that the road will be long and difficult, but together we can make a difference. We continue to fight for a dignified and safe school environment for all."
