Cagliari, active in Piazza del Carmine: «Palestine must not be forgotten»

In Cagliari, in a peaceful Piazza del Carmine, this evening a hundred Palestinian flags are waving in the wind.

Activists, citizens and families gathered for a rally to remember what is happening in the Gaza Strip and to reiterate that "Palestine must not be forgotten".

Activists have drawn attention to the events of the past few days, highlighting the escalation of the conflict and its dramatic consequences. According to data released by the Gaza Ministry of Health, the latest Israeli offensive has caused nearly a thousand victims in just 48 hours, bringing the overall death toll, since October 7, 2023, to over 49,500 people. These are shocking numbers, which add to the humanitarian devastation already underway.

While military operations continue on multiple fronts, also hitting Lebanon, Syria and Yemen, the West Bank is the scene of one of the most violent offensives since the Second Intifada.

«Refugee camps such as Jenin, Tulkarem and Nablus have become the focus of clashes that make the fate of thousands of people even more uncertain.

Even during the truces, humanitarian aid was blocked and access to essential services, such as electricity and water, remained compromised", say activists and just today "the occupation forces launched a ground operation, dividing Gaza in two to strengthen control over the territory, while the Israeli government announces new military actions".

From the Cagliari garrison, an appeal is made to the international community to intervene decisively to stop this spiral of violence. The initiatives of the International Court of Justice are being carefully watched, which has launched a global coalition to investigate war crimes and ascertain responsibilities along the entire military and political chain of command.

In the meantime, Italy remains under observation for its role in managing the conflict: "The government," activists accuse, "continues to provide political and economic support to Israel, while Palestinian citizens are being tried in their homeland, including Anan Yaeesh, in a case that has raised numerous controversies."
