Safer nightlife in Cagliari. This is the ultimate goal of the CTM night line, strengthened in view of the summer. The choice of this new service was born in the aftermath of the road accident which - on 10 September 2023 - cost the lives of four young people who were returning home after an evening in a club . The renewed transport offer includes summer lines during the day and night extensions of routes 1, 7,9, 30, 30R and PF.
The novelty for 2024 is the 1N , 1 night line, active every Saturday evening until 4.15 in the morning, which is added to the 9N (Cagliari - Elmas- Assemini and Decimomannu), ER (Cagliari - Quartu - Quartucciu - Selargius - Monserrato) and L (Cagliari - Poetto - Flumini di Quartu). «A night service that will continue throughout the summer - explained Carlo Andrea Arba, president of Ctm SpA - after the tragedy we established a night transport service that could, at least on Saturday nights, guarantee a safe return home for the our boys. Accompanying young people to places of entertainment, but also workers and tourists, offers a safe and reliable alternative for night-time travel. I am convinced - that even in the summer this night service will transport thousands of people, as it has done up to now. Today we present the 1N line, which is added to the 3 already existing ones, a well-known line which in its route reaches up to Pirri and the neighborhoods of Mulinu Becciu and Su Planu. Cagliari, like few large cities in Italy such as Turin, Genoa, Bologna and Naples, also has and will continue to have a night service."
A service created with a common path with the Region: «The choice to promote night public transport responds to two important needs - said Transport Councilor Barbara Manca - The first is to give, especially to young people, the possibility of moving in complete safety at night. The second is to offer a fundamental service for all people who choose Cagliari and its hinterland as their holiday destination. We want to continue in the coming years to promote this important type of service capable of improving the quality of life of citizens, promoting environmental sustainability and guaranteeing road safety." A request from Quartu, especially for Flumini: «The hope is that the public transport service - said Quartu councilor Elisabetta Atzori - can take a further step forward, in order to allow everyone to move around in total in the summer safety any day of the week and, above all, at any time. This must be the new objective that CTM must set itself for increasingly sustainable and up-to-date mobility."
