Another four months of red zone restrictions around Piazza del Carmine to combat petty crime.

The extension of the measure until January 31 was decided during the meeting of the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Safety convened this morning at the Prefecture. Mayor Massimo Zedda and all the heads of the police forces responsible for operating in the area attended the meeting.

The deadline was set for today. The reinforced control zone, with constant surveillance and the ability to remove individuals deemed dangerous, was established in September 2025.

The first phase included Piazza del Carmine, Via Sassari (up to Via Mameli), Via Maddalena, Via Malta, Via Crispi, Vico Malta, and Viale Trieste (up to Via Isola di Tavolara). It was subsequently extended to include Piazza Matteotti, the stretch of Via Sassari towards Viale La Playa, Viale La Playa up to the shopping center, and the Emilio Lussu University campus.
