The driver of the scooter (later found to be stolen) involved in the accident that occurred late yesterday evening in via Sonnino, at the intersection with via Alghero, in Cagliari , was identified within a few hours: he is a minor, tracked down thanks to the analysis of the footage from the video surveillance cameras in the area by the agents of the Emergency Response Unit of the Local Police of Cagliari.

According to an initial reconstruction, the young man was on the bus lane on Via Sonnino on his moped. When he reached the intersection with Via Alghero, he ignored the red light and collided with an oncoming car. The impact made him fall to the ground and he lost a shoe, but the boy quickly got up and ran away.
The investigation also revealed that the moped had been stolen. The officers, continuing to analyze the videos, found a jacket abandoned by the boy in a nearby street, in an attempt to avoid being recognized. However, the evidence collected allowed the Local Police to identify him.

The young man, who was also found to be without a driving license, was reported to the judicial authorities on charges of receiving stolen goods and failure to provide assistance.
