Pre-trial hearing, in court in Sassari, for Dimitri Iacono, the 32-year-old arrested last Saturday by the Sassari Flying Squad for kidnapping, beating and threatening with a gun an Alghero businessman to extort 50 thousand euros from him. The interrogation of the 16-year-old minor arrested together with Iacono, has been set for Thursday 19.

Iacono, defended by the lawyer Elias Vacca, is accused of the crimes of kidnapping, aggravated extortion and illegal possession of weapons.

According to the evidence collected by the inspectors of the Flying Squad, led by the manager Michele Mecca , the entrepreneur was approached three days ago by the two criminals last week. Threatening him with a gun, they got into his car and forced him to drive along the road to Bosa and to stop after a few kilometers on a rural path.

Here they beat him - the 33-year-old also hit him on the head with the butt of the gun - and asked him for 50 thousand euros . To make him understand that they were serious, they also fired a gunshot, which broke one of the windows of the car , a BMW. The entrepreneur, terrified and wounded by the beatings received, agreed to pay. They then went to his house where he took all the cash he had available, a little more than 10 thousand euros , and handed it over to his tormentors.

The two left with the threat that if he did not deliver the rest of the requested money within a few days, they would come back to him.
