In the last act of the investigation into the Bechere case, the Tempio Prosecutor's Office has requested the indictment of Maria Giovanna Meloni and her partner Giorgio Beccu for the events that occurred in Olbia at the end of November 2022.
The story is that of pensioner Rosa Bechere , 61 years old, who has not been heard from for almost two years now. According to the prosecutor, Meloni and Beccu, after stunning the woman with benzodiazepine-based drugs, robbed her using her Postepay and Bancoposta cards. Subsequently the woman would disappear into thin air. The crimes charged are those of robbery, injury, theft and use of credit cards.
According to the Gallura Prosecutor's Office, before disappearing, Rosa Bechere (60 years old) was robbed of several thousand euros and the reported couple also took some household appliances from her home. But the request for indictment gives no answer to the most serious accusation against the couple. In fact, there is no trace of the hypothesis of murder in the act. This is the crime for which Maria Giovanna Meloni and Giorgio Beccu underwent searches of their houses, cars and boats, DNA tests and other activities that lasted almost a year and a half. The Tempio Prosecutor's Office had also requested the arrest of the two, only for the crimes linked to the alleged appropriation of the money, and first the investigating judge and subsequently the Sassari Review Court said no to the measure. The case, in fact, is a sequence of never explained facts. For example, Maria Giovanna Meloni and Giorgio Beccu are accused of having stunned the victim with drugs, but it was they who asked for the intervention of doctors and firefighters (to open the pensioner's house) as they had no longer seen Rosa Bechere for days.
