« There is no trace of the 30 million announced by the previous regional council, earmarked for an extraordinary plan of redevelopment interventions for the properties on the island of Asinara».

The regional councilor for Environmental Protection, Rosanna Laconi, points out that the current regional administration has not inherited any master plan for the recovery of the old buildings, now dilapidated. The former president of the Region, Christian Solinas, in December 2023, had announced the measure to be included in the regional budget variation, resources equal to 30 million euros destined for the enhancement of the real estate owned by the Region on the island, with the aim of relaunching the other half of the territory of Porto Torres.

The process should have been articulated with allocations of 5 million for 2023, increased by a further 25 million for 2024. "With 30 million of extraordinary plan we think we can revitalize and redevelop a pearl that since it passed to the regional heritage had never enjoyed such radical interventions", Solinas had declared. Instead the coffers would be empty and the task of replenishing them will fall to the current regional administration which, in the coming weeks, will convene the Park Community, a political body capable of planning possible interventions to contribute to the development of the Island.

In the last conference organized by the Park Authority, the mayor of Porto Torres, Massimo Mulas, declared bluntly: "Asinara is an unfinished project. Of the 800 buildings registered, owned by the Coastal Conservation Authority, only 130 can be saved, the rest of the buildings are beyond repair."
