The magistrate of the Court of Sassari, Gian Paolo Piana, today issued the sentence of no place to proceed, "because the fact does not exist", against the former director of the Sassari prison, Partizia Incollu, who disappeared three weeks ago in an accident traffic police, and the superintendent of the penitentiary police, Luciano Piras, accused of perjury in the trial for the death of the prisoner Marco Erittu, found hanging in his cell on 18 November 2007.

A death for which three people were sentenced to life imprisonment for murder. Incollu and Piras were accused by the Sassari Prosecutor's Office of having given false testimony during the proceedings and for this reason had requested their indictment.

The accusations were deemed completely unfounded by the preliminary hearing judge, and both Incollu, defended by the lawyer Giorgio Murino, and Piras, assisted by Patrizio Rovelli and Fabrizio Rubiu, were acquitted.
