A worker from Olbia was hit in the eye by a piston during work on a bridge

The man who was seriously injured this morning in an accident at work on a construction site in the Maltana area is a 53-year-old worker from Olbia .

He was working on the maintenance of a bridge on the ring road when, for reasons to be ascertained, a metal object, probably a piston, came loose and hit him in the eye .

The impact was very violent, the worker was urgently transported by air ambulance to the civil hospital in Sassari. His condition is very serious, but his life is not in danger .

The Olbia Carabinieri and the Spresal staff of the Olbia Local Health Authority intervened on site. The Tempio Prosecutor's Office has opened an investigation.
