A sudden and unexpected storm surge, around 4 a.m., uprooted the dinghies from the buoy area, causing them to land on the rocks. A precise estimate is not yet available, but the damage caused by the storm that swept through the Cala Gonone area overnight amounts to approximately €100,000 .

The one who paid the price was entrepreneur and Dorgali city councilor Marco Mura, owner of the six destroyed vessels that were recovered and brought ashore this morning.

"When we moored them to the buoys that evening," he explains, "there were no signs of worsening weather. From the cameras, we saw that the wave started coming in after 3:00." It was so strong that it severed the ropes and caused the dinghies to crash onto the shore.

This incident highlights a widespread problem at the port. The concessions are full, and the dinghies must be left at the buoy area, outside, where the docks are less well-protected. Yesterday, there was space on the dock, but the boats were docked in their "out of the way" spot. The sudden windstorm has caused years of investment to crash onto the rocks.
