They acted like a commando: weapons of war, explosives, a precise plan and months of preparation. But during the night, the circle closed. The operation of the Carabinieri began in Sardinia – between Ogliastra and Nuoro – which led to the execution of several precautionary measures against the gang responsible for the sensational assault on two armored vans, on March 28, in the municipality of San Vincenzo, along the Aurelia state road .

The hit, which had yielded a loot of over 3 million euros, seemed faceless. But the investigations of the investigative unit of the Carabinieri of Livorno have reconstructed the movements and connections of the organization.

Sardinians between the ages of 33 and 54, some already known to the police, are now accused - to varying degrees - of aggravated robbery, possession and carrying in a public place of war weapons, explosives, aggravated theft and receiving stolen goods.

The arrests are nine in Sardinia between Barisardo, Girasole, Jerzu, Villanovastrisaili, Bottidda, Irgoli, Ottana, Ollolai and Olzai. Two instead were also made outside the Island, in Bologna and Pisa. But the heart of the organization was in Sardinia.

The handcuffs only affected Sardinians, confirming – according to investigators – the “deep-rooted” and highly structured nature of the group.

A surgical strike, planned for months. Investigators believe that the gang divided the roles with military rigor: some material executors, others "logistic", experts in weapons and explosives, all part of a plan that also included pre-established alibis and stolen vehicles to block the armored vehicles.

The custody order is signed by the investigating judge of the Court of Livorno at the request of the Prosecutor's Office.
