Palestra was named among the Serie A MVPs: Best Defender

Cagliari have earned a place among the Lega Calcio Serie A's end-of-season awards. Marco Palestra has been named best defender of the championship, which ends on Sunday , in recognition of his achievements during his season with the Rossoblù (on loan from Atalanta).
Along with Palestra, the other honorees were Roma's Mile Svilar , named best goalkeeper, Como's Nico Paz , named best midfielder, Inter's Lautaro Martínez, named best striker, and Inter's Federico Dimarco , named best overall player. The "Rising Star" award, meaning best young player, went to Juventus' Kenan Yıldız , while the Fair Play award went to Napoli's Vanja Milinković-Savić for going to congratulate Bologna's Massimo Pessina after the match, which Napoli lost 2-0.
The winners, explains the Lega Calcio Serie A, were selected based on Kama Sport's advanced analysis, developed from tracking data recorded with the Hawk-Eye system. The rating system considers not only statistical data and technical events, but also positional data to assess off-the-ball movements and the team's contribution to the game. Palestra was the best defender, based on a calculation that took into account the thirty-seven matchdays played so far .
