Orhan Pamuk leaves the controversy behind due to an initial cancellation and starts in Nuoro the celebrations for the 150th anniversary of the birth of Grazia Deledda .

“She was a great writer, one of a kind. The house museum I visited tonight helped me to understand his works through its places, the landscape of Mount Ortobene that he saw from the window, the kitchen, the courtyard, the living room. The places and objects of the books are important to understand the work and life of the authors ”, said the Turkish writer, Nobel Prize 2006.

Pamuk immersed himself in the places of the Nuorese writer, also winner of a Nobel Prize in 1926: he visited the house museum in the Santu Predu district, piazza Satta, the cathedral, the church of Solitude where her remains are kept, then reached the Eliseo theater where he was welcomed by the mayor Andrea Soddu and the writer Marcello Fois, president of the promoting committee for the anniversary celebrations, wanted by the Minister of Culture Dario Franceschini.

Not a hint of the controversy that arose yesterday when, after the first stop in Sardinia, in Porto Cervo, Pamuk was awarded the Costa Smeralda 2022 Award and had suddenly decided to cancel the appointment in Nuoro. An inconvenience resolved after the "resolution of some logistical problems".

Pamuk donated some volumes of Deledda translated into Turkish and belonged to his father to the Deleddiano museum.

"We Turks love the works of Nobel laureates and that is why Grazia Deledda is translated more in Turkish than in English ", she said, "I have here with me two translations of the book Elias Portulu and one of Canne al vento, which for me is the best work of the writer ".

It is the first meeting in Nuoro with a Nobel, but there will be two others . We will not mention names in advance, but they will be great occasions for the city, which for once will be visited by the greatest ”, said Marcello Fois.
