Paid over ten million for a shirt worn by Michael Jordan: a record.

This was announced by the auction house Sotheby's which managed the sale.

The record-breaking heirloom is the jersey nicknamed “Last Dance” which was worn by the champion of basketball champions during one of the NBA finals games in 1998 when he was a member of the Chicago Bulls .

This is the number 23 jersey, withdrawn from the Windy City basketball team.

The name Last Dance comes from ESPN / Netflix's 2020 documentary of the same name which chronicles Jordan's career at the Bulls and their attempt to win their sixth NBA championship in eight years.

The jersey of the US basketball legend surpassed the previous record after the sale of Diego Maradona's shirt , the one of the legendary 1986 match against England, also sold at Sotheby's for 9.3 million last May .

He also broke the record previously set with Kobe Bryant, when last May his Los Angeles Lakers kit was sold for 3.7 million dollars.
