In the Almarsi case, Giorgia Meloni's case has been closed. But only hers. Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi and Justice Minister Carlo Nordio are moving toward requesting authorization to proceed, along with Undersecretary to the Prime Minister Alfredo Mantovano.

The Prime Minister herself has announced the progress of the legal proceedings in the case of the Libyan soldier wanted by the International Criminal Court for heinous crimes, arrested in Italy and immediately flown back to his country on a state flight . She does not accept the decision.

"Today I was notified of the order from the Tribunal of Ministers for the Almasri case: more than six months after its inception, compared to the three months required by law, and after unjustifiable leaks," the Prime Minister attacked.
The judges dismissed "my case alone, while I gather from the decree that authorization will be requested to proceed against Ministers Piantedosi and Nordio and Undersecretary Mantovano. The decree claims that I 'was not informed in advance and did not agree with the decision made': and thus I would not have strengthened 'the criminal program'."

It is therefore argued that "two authoritative ministers and the undersecretary I delegated to intelligence acted on such a serious matter without sharing the decisions they made with me. This is a patently absurd thesis. Unlike some of my predecessors, who distanced themselves from their ministers in similar situations, I maintain that this government is acting cohesively under my leadership," Meloni continues, adding: "Every decision, especially such a significant one, is agreed upon. It is therefore absurd to ask that Piantedosi, Nordio, and Mantovano be tried, and not me, before them."

On the merits, the Prime Minister reiterates "the correctness of the entire Executive's actions, which have had the protection of the safety of Italians as their sole compass. I stated this publicly immediately after learning of the entry into the register of suspects, and I will reiterate it in Parliament, sitting alongside Piantedosi, Nordio, and Mantovano when we vote on the authorization to proceed."
