The third appointment of "Mountain Encounters" was held in the municipal library of Sinnai, the thematic review created by Marco Mura (Runner Hiking) and Amos Cardia (Sardinia Biking) which combines sport, nature and environmental protection.
Presented the autobiography of Tullio Frau (69 years old), blind athlete from Gonnoscodina who has lived in Pordenone for years who came to Sardinia to take part in the event and talk about his "The will has no barriers".
Frau is one of the very few blind ultratrailer and ultramarathon runners in the world. His stories guaranteed many trips to those present: Italian mountains, Iran, the United States, Israel, deserts, snow-covered places and obviously his beloved Sardinia.
Having sold numerous copies of the book, the proceeds will go to charity for the prevention of blindness and eye diseases carried out by the IAPB Italia Onlus (International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness).
Co-protagonist of the evening Simone Scalas (36 years old), a young blind athlete of Sportiva Uta 2000 with many competitions under his belt, including ultramarathons and ultratrails, despite having only approached running five years ago. A further contribution came from the audience from Davide Capita, another blind runner of Cagliari Atletica Leggera who has been competing on the track and on the road for several years, however fresh from a good experience on the trails. Speeches also by runners-guides Antonello Soriga and Melania Deidda.
The organizers said they were fully satisfied with the number of attendees, almost sold out. The next appointment is set for Friday 20 January 2023 and will feature Carlo Coni, who completed the circumnavigation of Sardinia in a kayak, without support, in total water and food self-sufficiency.
