Luca Dessì of Karel Sport is officially the 2023 Sardinian mountain bike champion. With one stage to spare, he arrhythmically won the 2023 Sardinia Cup.

In seven of the eight races already held, the runner from Settimo San Pietro has collected 3050 points with an advantage of 605 points over his direct opponent, Marco Serpi. The gap is now unbridgeable for the Arkitano Mtb Club athlete.

Third place is currently occupied by Maurizio Olla, Dessì's teammate, with 1080 points. The historic Serpilonga to Sinnai was decisive, the seventh stage which was run last Sunday. Dessì, despite a mechanical problem a few kilometers from the finish, managed to keep his direct competitor for the title behind him. A triumphal season for him who has already won the title of Sardinian Marathon champion, in Pau on May 21st. He also won the Nurri race on May 14th.

«An extraordinary year so far», says Dessì. «I honestly didn't expect to win the title. A wonderful satisfaction. I thank my team who has always supported me. Now I want to end the competition on a high note." On October 29th there is the last stage of the Sardinia Cup in Sant'Antioco.

Celebrate the team too. «Luca, in addition to being a great athlete», say the president Giorgio Lecca and the managers Andrea Cappai and Alessandro Manca, «is a great friend. He played an exceptional championship. It was the most consistent. He richly deserved this title. We are proud. Congratulations also to Maurizio Olla, fighting for third place, despite having missed two stages. This year he also did a great road bike race in the Dolomites."

Also in the top positions were Paolo Aledda, who won the Point to Point in Sinnai, and captain Mauro Vacca, protagonist in the last four stages and fresh from third place in the very tough Sinnai Marathon (a race won by Vacca six times). There are also other yellow and black athletes who are growing strongly such as Michele Montis who participated in the Point to Point achieving an excellent result and Cristian Cocco.
